recently got a strat for pretty cheap. im not thrilled with the color but it was a great deal. and i've always wanted a natural wood grain strat. i have no idea what wood type it is, so it could be an "ugly" wood but still worth a shot i think.
anyone have any tips or know of any good online tutorials?

I just used a sander... but then it was an old Bronze series Mockingbird that I wasn't too fussed about accidentally damaging.
Having said that, I didn't actually damage it, so it all turned out OK. :)

If it's poly, you can try what I did here: http://juansolo.demon.co.uk/stompage/bajage.html (http://juansolo.demon.co.uk/stompage/bajage.html)
