Anthrax are playing The Astoria 10th April!
Original line up as well. I think I'll have to get along to that one!
-
Oooh, yes. I have to try and get to this. :D

Have you guys seen the reunion DVD/CD set?
I got it a few weeks back and it's great to see the line-up back together.
Dan Spitz has got what appears to me to be a unique PRS headstock design on his new private stock model - A PRS take on 6 inline.
I've been looking for info but can't find out a thing, I think it looks great though.
Would be good to see them in such a small venue.

Yeah I bought the Alive Vol 2 CD/DVD set a while back. The circle pit during Indians looks fun!
-
I was at the reunion show on DVD. I'm actually in a couple of spots..lol
It was a great show. Lots of energy. Definitely go if you can!!!!!!
The only thing I did not like is the way they did the DVD and CD. Why some songs were only on the CD and some only on the DVD beats me. Must have been for the extra $$ since I had to buy both...lol
They did a pantera cover plus other stuff that is not on either the Cd or DVD.
The guy that opened for them was great too. He was all by himself with his guitar and practically took every Pantera riff and combined it into one giant riff all together. He was an apprentice of the late and great Dimbag.

Sounds good 101! I'll have to get meself a copy. I used to have the video from Hammersmith on the Among The Living tour in 1986 I think it was. Anyway it was so good i wore the tape out.

Me and a mate have got tickets for this booked now. Anyone on here fancy meeting up for a pint before the gig? :)

Hi Muttley!
No worrys, the mate i was meeting in there had been on the piss all day and was behaving like a right w**ker, so much so the doorman wouldn't let him in! So i wouldn't have wanted to burden BKP forum buddy with all that bollocks!
Yeah the gig was fantastic! That's the first time I've seen them for 17 years and they can still kick arse. Scot Ian's rhythm playing is just $%ing outrageous! I remember that's why I got into them in the first place. Plus they played all the old ones we all know and love!
I didn't think much of the 2nd support band though. One of the guitar players was playing without his amp on for one number, did you notice?!!
-
what was the second support band? Kingsize Blues?

No they were on first, they seemed ok but i only caught the last of their set. The other band were Beyond Fear.
-
so what were Anthrax like? - I saw them on the State Of Euphoria tour in '89 (my first gig). Scott Ian always hada great thrash tone live (recorded tone was a bit thin though)
-
They were fffing brilliant. Tight as F*** and deafening! They were my first gig in 88!
-
Good stuff mate - is Scott Ian still using the JCM800s and Jubilees? (I know Danny Spitz was/is a Boogie type of guy).
-
His using Randalls as far as i know

Just found this quote from Scott Ian on the Anthrax website!

Comrades,
I'm just waking up from last night's insanity in London. The show was the best yet. Best Astoria show ever and dare I say the best show of the tour so far. You always hear how cities like London, NY, LA are always jaded because they get a million shows etc. That's never been the case for us. All of those cities have constantly been amazing and London especially has been a high point. The energy last night was over the top. There was never a lull. I felt myself going for it at a level beyond my normal physical capabilities. I couldn't help myself, the crowd was that good. The UK has been there for us since the beginning. We broke here before anywhere else and the strength and loyalty of our audience here is a testament to the big hearted nature of the British that I love. I got to meet so many CDC members the last few days all wearing their color's proudly. It's nice to put a face to the names I chat with. Last night I met bigbossway and his bride to be and they are using Safe Home as their wedding song!!! I'll be sad to leave the UK on Thursday. Nottingham tonight and then we'll see you on the next record.
Cheers,
Scott
