Not sure why I never posted this here when we did this, but anyway, here it is. We recorded this mid-September, I've pretty happy with it.
Be gentle :D

and another

and the final track (acoustic), shock!!!! :o

I like it :-) The singer reminds me of Jex Thoth which is a good thing.
I'd like to shave alot of low end off the kick, though! If I was in the band I'd insist that you'd tune down some more and turn the gain down too but that's preference :-)
-
Nice one, but the gain is staying - its mostly from a Roger Mayer Spitfire fuzz anyway, though the guitars were doubled with my Mesa Studio preamp as well.
-
I like that, a lot.
-
You should check out Purson, HTH. I think you'd like them.

Like the music a lot dude 8)
As an absolute layman when it comes to such things, I can't decide whether the guitar that is too prominent in the mix on the first two tracks or if it's like Lew says and there's just too much gain. But they seem to dominate and everything else is underneath (apart from in the quieter sections where it's fine), if you see what I mean.

Reminds me, especially on "Shame", of Alia O'Brien from Blood Ceremony. Which is also a good thing. I'm starting to think all rock bands should have female singers.
I really like those tracks. Hope to hear more soon!

Great stuff mate! I'm sure you could polish the mixes, but at the end of the day the music stands in its own. Enjoyed them all.
Edit: also, my favourite part is the guitar. Good riffs, heavy tone.
-
I agree, the guitars sound fantastic. Just enough gain to me :). The singer is great! Agree though that the mix is possibly a bit guitar heavy. The drums are a bit far back and boxy. The vocals disappear a bit on song two.
I've burned it to cd and I'm listening to it in bed. It's damn fine :D just tweaking required
-
Likage from me also.
That's a mighty thick guitar sound!!! Whatcha using?
-
Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
The guitars are:
SHAME: Les Paul into Marshall Lead & Bass combo with Roger Mayer Spitfire fuzz. Doubled up with an Epi Crestwood into a Boogie Studio preamp on the gain channel. Cab is a H&K 1x12 with an old EV12L.
LIE DOWN: Epi Crestwood into Boogie Studio Preamp clean channel with Roger Mayer Spitfire fuzz. Doubled up with Les Paul into a Boogie Studio preamp on the gain channel. Cab is a H&K 1x12 with an old EV12L.
WINTER SUN: Takemine acoustic, Korean made, smaller than dreadnaught, size 'O' possibly.

not bad at all, I like the song-writing but definitely think the first two tracks could be improved in the mixing stage. I like the acoustic track a lot though.

The mixes aren't perfect, but we only had so much time to get the EP out there - that was about the fifth mix we got back, you should've heard how low the vocals were at first.
The acoustic track is a real sleeper, I love how it was recorded, really direct sound.

Really liking this, dirty fat guitar tones :D
