BKP's alternative to Dimarzio Injectors? In your opinion.
I'm looking for a Paul Gilbert "Scarified" tone.
-
Well of course BKP don't make any hum-cancelling single-coil replacements, but soundwise, I don't know. gwEm has tried the Injectors, you could try sending him a PM if no-one responds.
Edit: Wasn't "Scarified" a Racer X track, way back in the '80s? I think he was using PAF Pro humbuckers in those days, but I could very well be wrong.
-
Philly is correct that I have an Injector. The Trilogy Suite is the closest for that.
For the Scarified tone though, I would go for something else.. Not exactly sure what though(!)
-
Gilbert has used PAF for most of his career, probably Dimarzio.
I think in the 80's Vai, Satriani etc. used Dimarzio PAF on their recordings.
-
I may be wrong (I often am), but hasn't the Cold Sweat neck - in bridge position - been suggested as an alternative to the PAF Pro? I think Mr Hellstyle has commented on it.

yes I did :D
it does have a quite similar voicing in both positions
in the bridge it sounds very Gilberish
not sure if they would make it in 53mm, though
as an alternative, the bridge black dog sounds a bit more like new Mr. Big which was probably recorded with the injectors
it has a fatter and smoother humbucker response, of course, but the midrange is somewhat similar
also great for satriani-like tones

but I have no idea how "arium" sounds :?

Laney VC50. Great amp, used one for years.

Sounds a fascinating concept. I hadn't heard of Aristides before.
-
He's been using various Marshalls recently IIRC.
Also, IIRC, he used parallel wire pickups for the Racer X stuff which would give a brighter tone with more attack. He loves coily cables I know that, which gives a bit more thickness to bright tones.
I would try a Rebel Yell maybe. But honestly, I wouldn't put my hat on that. No idea how those old PGM models would sound tonally.

I always associate Racer X with those matching pink and green guitars with Kahlers and neck minibuckers.
I thought they were Epiphones - it's an Epiphone body shape - but those are obviously Ibanez necks:
