Got these because I spotted them on Ebay, and they were only a couple of quid each (which is a lot for a pick I guess, but I was curious).
Left to right, they're ebony, box wood (whatever that is) and padauk. Was really excited when I got home from work, rushed upstairs to test them, and absolutely hated them!!!
However, now I'm not so sure - I've had some time to experiment.
They really do sound very different, certainly very different to the Tortex plectra I'm currently using. The ebony one is my favorite, with that padauk a close second. Don't like the box wood one, it's got a thumb dimple in it, and it doesn't feel right.
The attack on the strings is noticeably softer - almost dull - but it gives a little something right at the top of the note; a little rasping that sounds really cool. I've never been a fan of thick picks, particularly for rhythm playing, but I think that I might persevere with these, as they really do sound cool.
No idea how long lasting they'll be though!

i had a few of those a while back, lignum vitae ones which apparently is the hardest of all woods. they did have a nice tone to them especially on the acoustic but they did wear down fairly quickly.
