Title: Jeff Beck rig 2013
Post by: Lew on November 20, 2013, 04:14:26 PM
I'm sure some of you have seen this pop up in your feed but here it is incase you haven't.

It's really interesting to me that he's using stock amps and cabs and a DSL.

I like the Vibroking, not a fan of the DSL. Interesting to see he uses stock baby powder.  I suppose for fast riffing. :D

I saw him back in the '60s when his rig was a Telecaster into a Tonebender (only used on a few  numbers) into a Vox AC 100 and Vox AC30. I was absolutely mesmerised by his sound and playing, but, as has been pointed out on several threads on this forum, it seems to be a marmite thing - my friend with me thought it was rubbish  :?

I saw him last year and he was dull dull dull. I do adore his early stuff. Truth, BBA, Wired, Blow by Blow. The couple of electronic albums were great too but alot of his catalogue is just dull.

I played Wired till the record was grey. I agree, his early stuff is amazing. Recently I watched a vid of a bluesconcert in the White House. I didn't like Jeff in that one and Mick Jagger was totally embarrasing.

Yes - I loved his early stuff. Unfortunately that seems to be the pattern for many artists from that era - Clapton, Rod Stewart etc

I find this hilarious, most guitarists couldn't even have a tenth of his playing ability and need high end boutique amps, and there he is with a bog standard marshall DSL head... it's interesting because I really liked the DSL combo 20 and 40 watt from the JCM2000 range, but don't think the newest versions sound quite as good. I've always loved the fender combos though, especially when you have jensen speakers in them, not surprised he uses that more than the marshall head.

Pretty sure that's for the Brian Wilson tour. I think he's usually just has a 50w Marshall.

Bit of a bromance going on there, I think they'd make a lovely couple

Much as I've tried to get on with Jeff Beck's playing, it just does nothing for me - the very early JBG stuff with Rod Stewart is great mind, but nothing else I've heard floated my boat.  Especially his playing these days, I just want to snap that $%&#ing whammy bar off.

 I wouldn't have put it so bluntly maybe, but yes I agree.

I do love Truth and Beck-Ola, though.  I sometimes wonder what Rod Stewart might've done if he'd stayed more in the rock genre.
