Title: Google Chrome and Youtube
Post by: richard on November 25, 2013, 08:48:13 PM
Any Chrome users having problems with Youtube ? There seems to be a known issue related to Flashplayer but everything I've read says it's impossible to solve and many are abandoning Chrome because of this.

I always have massive problems watching YouTube in Chrome, but I assume it's because my computer is very very old, very very shite and doesn't have enough memory.

It is related to Adobe Flash Player though - whenever I open two or three tabs with some kind of embedded video content (i.e. advertising), it all gets slower than an extraordinarily slow thing and eventually I get a message saying Flash Player has crashed.

Sometimes I disable Flash Player, but then I get pissed off because I can't even try to watch anything on YouTube.

I think I've sorted it for now at least. You need this:

chrome://plugins/

Click on 'Details' on the right so that it changes from + to -.

The first Adobe Flash option is Pepperflash. Disable it and restart your PC.

I use this browser and it works fine. It is based on Chrome, but doesn't talk back to Google. You can log in normally with your google name as well.

Much safer and of course I like that I'm not giving Google consumer data with everything I do, while enjoying the browser.
