Hey Tim, you mentioned about some up and coming BKP models that are going to release in November.
Are you keeping the details a closely guarded secret, known only to those sworn to the inner circle of BKP, or are you able to give us some idea of what we might expect?
I wont tell..... Promise.....

It's a wild guess but I feel an Iron Maiden Signature pickup set coming.
-
What? As well as a George Lynch, a John Sykes, an Ace frehley and a George Formby (ukelele banjo sound )
I may just be kidding on one of those...

Yeah! I mean all you need to sound like Ace Frehley is a Les Paul and a Marshall!

Don't forget platform boots! And the pickups have to be able to shoot fireworks or something.

Ah I never got KISS, I'm not sure what it is about them that puts me off. Millions can't be wrong though I guess.

Millions can't be wrong eh? - have you ever heard of The Spice Girls? :D

im just hoping that they aren't releasing a set of someone that i love, cos then ill have to save up again and maybe cut a few textbooks out of my learning
maybe a hendrix or trower set?
or zappa! :P
-
I never 'got' Maiden either. Kiss and Maiden are both a little over the top. They're Spinal Tap squared :? They're good musicians but how are you gonna take 'em seriously? :gne:

Nice Willo LOL!
Too bad that movie is a comedy and not a p*rn*

I'm just doing R&D on a new set of 'Cold Sweat' humbuckers- a mid powered distortion humbucker in the vein of the early Dirty Fingers. What I've done is try to get rid of the mid spikes but retain the power.
I'm gigging them at the moment and I'm really pleased with them.
More soon! PDT_045

do BK need me to do any testing ;)?!
-
Hey Doogz,I play test everything for along time before we commit it to the product range we offer.I need to know how a pickup plays live and in the studio-thoroughly-so I can stand square behind it. I wind lots of variants of a pickup before settling on what I'm after and I'm also on the look out for how different winds react to different timber/construction too so I can tweak winds to players requirements where possible.
At the end of the day it's in the ears as much as the hands, just like playing!!
-
Thats good Tim, nice to know the products are well experimented with...
heres a question, generally , through the testing process, how many changes are made??? if so are many serious ones??
Cheers,
Doogz
-
Oh yes...I'm not afraid to abandon an idea if it's going nowhere but generally once I've got a decision made on the magnet, it's down to settling on the best wind/wire combo for the job. It often changes and I even tweak designs once we're making them if I find a better way, for instance a changed the Miracle Man wind jsut a few months ago. Not that it was bad but I found a slightly better wind-we're only talking minor adjustments, tweaks nothing major.
-
nice, i like companies that update their products when no need! :D, just ads that special touch that shows u care...
Fancy selling me a pair of not quite in production yet pickups for £20 ;) ill review/ gig/ record with them :P! ;) - im such a desperate goon!

I think the original Dirty Fingers were like 12K and then Gibson started making them around 18- 19K.
How much output is the model you are working on going to be around?
I'm very interested :D
I've got prototypes on the go between DC13.8 amd 14.4K with a nice offset-the 18K DFs I don't like at all and the sound I want to capture is the John Sykes tone-awesome. It's pretty much there too, they really sing but have this great muscular rhythm tone too as well as cleaning up nicely.
-
PHEW- At last Tim has let the cat out of the bag .
It was killing me knowing that the cold Sweat set were on the horizon and I couldn't say much. I love the Sykes sound - the 1987 album being a fave along with Lizzy's Thunder and Lightning.
The Cold Sweat series should also sound good for Michael Schenker impressions too (yay!). His V had a pair in the early MSG days.

C'mon MM - don't quote me on that .
It's not like i sexed up a WMD report that we went to war over....
So ok - it's true about the Cold Sweat
But I deny the Ace Frehley bit (even as an ex Kiss fanatic)
And I have made guitars for Kiss tribute bands
The George Formby bit however may be true after spending 3 days opposite the Maughn amplifiers stand at the London Guitar Show
Too much jazz blues has gotten through our system and distorted our perspective. (NOT)

I think that the Holy Diver is supposed to be that....
Or at least the Dio bit - should also cover Ratt and Motley too!
-
How about a pickup set for stratocasters with a Brian May tone? I'm not a strat player but I think it could be interesting for those that are.
-
that would be a variax....

Yep,......without that cr@ppy digital stuff
And a decent neck etc. etc.
-
:D
-
A treble booster, like the keeley Java Boost will get you close to that Brian May sound. And a few other vintage tones. 8)

A lot of Brian's tone is from the series connected single coils and the phase switches.
A 24" scale helps as does the general construction of his guitar
A curly lead as well- clogs are a must too
-
And a six pence instead of a pick!
-
Here's one that Brian made earlier.
This was probably a good day in the office for me
We did some work for The Brian May band and Brian's tech had the red special with him (Whoo Hoo!)
I was also an extra in the I want to break free video - no prizes for spotting me though....a miner role
-
We are among greatness here......we're not worthy, we're not worthy!
Damn, I would be scared sh!tless even holding that guitar, let alone play it.
-
It was an odd moment - luckily i had the camera in the workshop.
I felt compelled to play "Tie your mother down"
It was an interesting guitar- I didn't really like it but was in huge reverence of it.
Brian is the reason I got into guitars and also into making them - kind of an interesting sense of closure getting to play the red special
-
I think it's amazing how you and other guitar makers can turn a block of wood into a great guitar. I can do some customizing but I would love to learn how to build an actual guitar from scratch.

John's still out there doing it and sounding as awesome as ever!

Well, I like the T-Shirt at least! :D Mindcrime... what an album.
Sooo... it looks like I will now have to purchase a set of 'Cold Sweat' when they arrive to add that extra air of authenticity to my rendition of 'Still of the Night'?. Also loved his tone on the Blue Murder albums. But really, did he need to write a song devoted to Pharoah's?!
-
Pharoahs! Of course, all part of rock star 'god'like status
-
"cold sweat" know we are talk john sykes has some killer tone !!!!!!!! sykes/lizzy/tygers/whitesnake/blue murder man those should be smokin! now if i could get on for the bridge of my strat w/floyd i'd be set 8)
