So The 3 covered bkps I have owned have all been black
and like many I have found the black finish chips off in spots on all 3 .
I'm choosing for a swap into a mayones setius at the moment and the stock duncans have gold covers which I'm digging in this all black guitar so thinking nickel or gold covers maybe .
are the nickel and gold any more durable than the black ?

If you want a durable finish I would go for chrome or burned chrome.
Nickel and gold always tarnish.

chrome, brushed nickel, camo and tygyr
raw nickel gets aged really fast
-
the burnt chrome wears away really fast where its touched or when sweat gets on it and eventually from cleaning too

What does it look like then? Regular chrome?

Is black the only one the can acutally chip ?

I believe so being the only painted finish. The rest just fade/tarnish
