I am using Sonic Defenders EarPro EP4s. Should cost about 20quid or so and I can use them for about half a year until the material starts to become too stiff and such. Very nice things. They really feel like they take out the noise, those nastly high frequencys and besides that just make it quieter. Also they have the best wearing comfort of all I ever tried over the years. Highly recommended.

I just use those squishy disposable ones you get from the chemist.

I mainly worry about harmonics and cymbals.  Low frequencies don't affect my ears as much

I have the ACS Pro 17 custom moulded ones. Best money i've ever spent, flat frequency and a snug fit in my ears, I can hear everything clearly just at a lower volume. I never rehearse/gig without them and will save my ears of some hard high end cymbal thrashing and co for years to come!

If you're not so flush on cash though you can get the ER-20's which is a one-size-fits-all type jobby, about £20, I used to use them, not as comfy or clear as the ACS Customs but will do the job well.

I use ER-20 (like CommonCourtesy proposes). They do the job, and are cheap enough to be lost sometimes in a pit. Maybe among the best you can have without going to expensive stuff.

The base architecture of those ER-20s is the same as the Sonic Defenders EP4 (or 3) I suggested, but they have a little something added (http://www.mountsplus.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/SureFire_EP4_Sonic_Defenders.jpg)
With those extra things they really sit nicely and more savely too,, takes a lot more to make them fall out (nigh impossible). I once had one of those simple things go too far into my ear for some reason, beyond retrival by hand. Not cool let me tell you.

Wow. This is really cool! Having an earplug pushed deep into my ear is my main fear in a pit.
Moreover, the Sonic Defenders EP4 you propose are actually quite cheap. I think I will try them!
