I seen a guy with 5 different BKP in a similar demo.

I might get hammered for saying this, but the difference in them doesn't stand out as much as i would have thought. In the first clip, the BD has more low end, but in the other clips it's slightly harder to notice the difference.

They're close in this vid. I hear a bit more uppermid sparkle and more harmonics with the VHII, where the Black Dog has a more emphasizes on the center- and lowmids. And perhaps a tad more bass, though it's a close call. My preference would be the VHII.

Having both pickups here, the VHII is my fav, being more balanced sounding.

BTW, you didn't vote 8)

I definitely prefer the VHII in this clip.  Maybe it is just better suited to the guitar and amp you combined it with, but I disliked the low-mids in the Black Dog clips, although in the later section where these weren't so prominent I found them to be quite similar and I had no clear preference.

I don't know if you could adjust this out using the Resonance pot on the 5150 or not.  If your amp was set up the same for both pickups that might be the issue, but then again on different settings we wouldn't have a good pickup comparison.

Cheers for the clip.  It confirms my feeling that the two 'vintage hot' BKPs that appeal to me are the Emerald and VHII, rather than the Black Dog and Abraxas

my phone output is failing so I could only hear a few parts
in my experience, the vhII is definitely bassier than the black dog, but not as fat sounding and has a tighter picking response

The low mids on my BD loaded Tokai LP is too much for me at times and i am on the verge of moving on the BD bridge. I have a RR in the neck, but i wish i had something else in the bridge at this stage.

Anyway, comfirms that my choice is obviously the VHII. :P

Both were superb but after a few listens, the Black Dog just shaded it for me  :D

I wonder how much string height has to do with the Black Dog. The low mids are too much at times in the LP.

String height is normal ( a bit close to strings ) in both guitars ...

I hear a difference but it is not as pronounced as I have expected.

For that kind of playing I would prefer the VHII for its increased cut and punch. For my personal playing style the Black Dog worked better. So I will not cast a vote here.
