Title: Wiring diagram question 2 hums 1 push pull (can be done?)
Post by: rg401 on January 14, 2014, 01:26:58 AM
Hi, got 2 aftermath 2 con, I want to set an old rg with "2 hums 1 push-pull pot" (no separate volume, no pickup selector, no tone, just 1 pot, where the push-pull pot works as a volume and pickup selector when pull. checked the shematics and the net and nothing,,, any advise?

How do you want that to work? Push for bridge pickup, pull for neck? That wouldn't let you have both pickups at once but if it's what you want then you could do that with just one pole of the switch.

If it's a two pickup RG I'm assuming it had a selector switch at some point.  What happened to the switch?

If it was a single pickup guitar that's been routed for a neck pickup maybe you can rout in a selector switch cavity, maybe for a Gibson style three way?

Guitar is routed for 2 hum, I know I will lose some sounds combination, I just want to try this simple aesthetic look, with no lever or toggle switch.

Well, I think it will work, just that you will only have neck or bridge, not both.  That said I rarely play on the neck myself and if I do it's never mixed with the bridge, so I'd never miss the middle position anyway.  I'd wire the volume pot '50s style and then use the switch for neck/bridge.  It should be quite simple.  Maybe use a gibson 3-way diagram as a starting point?  I'd tend to use a push-push rather  than a push-pull though.  I just  think you will find it easier when playing.
