Has anyone used the VH II in a Hamer Centaura and if so how did you like it / sound quality etc.
-
Centaura = Alder bodied?
If so them VH2 will be great in there
-
Alder is a pinch bright compared to basswood, but probably rock in there anyway.
-
I have a VHII in an ash Fender strat. Great pickup for any type of rock.
-
Alder body has a smooth midrange heavy sound so using a VH2 with it's slightly enhanced top and bottom resonse over a standard PAF type (like a Mule)

Hey thanks for all the feedback! Yes it's a 91 Centaura with an alder body so the VH II sounds like a good choice. The SD JB is well "dull". I hope the BKP choice will add some dynamics to the mix.

Funny enough, the JB is at it's best in alder bolt ons.

The JB was the bomb in it's day. I had one in my Kramer Custom I and my Hamer. I changed the Kramer to a SD custom shop RTM and had a Super V for the Hamer, but decided to try the VH II switch while the Centaura is in the shop for a fret job. Nothing wrong with a JB but some of the new choices are superior.

it should work great in alder. I like the VHII in alder more than basswood.
my Centaura is one of the mahogany models and the RY is great in that one.
those Duncan CS models you mentioned are great choices.
