I'm torn with what bridge pickup to use in a Mayones Setius :(
There's a JB right now. Sounds nice, but too bright. I wasn't expecting it; I'm not a fan of the JB but the guitar's not too bright on its own.
I have a Rebel Yell on a Mahog/Rosewood guitar (MusicMan Albert Lee: Mahogany body, all Rosewood neck) but I would think the Rosewood sweetens the highs a bit more than an all Mahogany guitar would; I'm worried the RY would be a tiny bit too bright in the Mayones.
However the Mayones has a maple cap, which brings out a bit more oompsh in the midrange but also contributes to the treble...
I read other threads on the same guitar and the recurring three choices are RY (potentially a bit too middy/bright...), Abomb (love it in a brighter guitar, unsure about a darker one) or the Holy Diver (seems to be warm and fat; seems like my ideal pickup, but for a bright guitar!).
So... what would give me that bark in the midrange, without being too overpowering in the treble or high mids? :)

Holy Diver, and that one is not so far away from a Rebel Yell. HD has a rounder top and more (center/low) mids.

I would also have said Holydiver. Rebel Yell would be too bright in your case. Another good option would be the Crawler.
Cheers Stephan

I actually have a Crawler I could use; I fear it's just too massive sounding though! I had it in a Strat and it was just HUGE sounding. I think it intimidated me too much
I ended up ordering a covered Holy Diver :) Thanks!

I was just about to say Holydiver too... Well done Pierre!

I recently swapped the JB out of my setius for a miracle man and it was a great swap
not saying MM is for you cause midrange bark it aint , but getting the JB out of there was a great move. I never hated it but the guitar sounds so much better without it

The MM was my first BK and I did not like it. The Basswood Charvel I had it in wasn't the right guitar. And right on the money about the bark!
Funny about the JB... it's like marmite. I think it would sound amazing in an all maple or maple neck-through guitar; it'd add crunch and clarity, tighten the bass and you'd get a great lead tone. But in a mid-focused Mahogany guitar... :/ eh it helps project and cut through but it's quite spiky.

If it is mid-focused maybe you should consider a Cold Sweat. It works well in my SG

The Holy Diver is in and I LOVE it! Great, great tones. Fits the guitar perfectly (although as mentioned earlier, darker than the JB as expected).
It's less powerful; I normally have this 'less power' placebo effect from BKs because of their added clarity, but in this case the HD is definitely less powerful than the JB. Clearer and more balanced though.

Glad you like the HD. Fiddle with the height to find the sweet spots. And yes, BKP's seem to ''eat your gain'' a bit because of the clarity and the superb noteseparation. Something I had to get used to coming for Dimarzio's etc.
