Title: Black Dog/Emerald Baritone
Post by: zipline 7020 on January 23, 2014, 04:26:49 AM
So I hear from a lot of people that Black Dogs and Emeralds are the way to go for 7/8 strings and baritones looking for a huge thick rock sound.

But i can't seem any sound clips showcasing that, could someone point me in the right direction?

I canīt point you, but I can say a few words.

Blackdog rules in baritone as a baritone adds high and low end to the sound and the Blackdog has a very solid midrange, this making it fit greatly. Tight and a metal sound with authority and a lot more character than most metal sounds.

The Emerald rules in extended scale such as 7/8 strings as those go lower obviously and this need to retain clarity and live in the lower octaves. You donīt wanne get a bassy mess. The Emerald bridge is very bright, clear and tight, making it great here. It can go from vintage sound to modern metal and is actually a favorite there since it is open, tight and lively. Kills.
