Title: Gibson Les Paul Standard lacking power, sustain and warmth

Hey guys, I play in a metal band All To Ruin. I run a 6505 into a Framus V30 cab. I need a perfect high output clear pickup for my les paul standard.

I love tones from Periphery, to Zakk Wylde and everything inbetween.

I want to stay away from active pickups if possible! More of a look thing than anything else haha.

I also do function work, so I wouldn't mind having something verstile, but it's not hugely important as I use a strat for that

Your tonal references would seem to suggest either a Miracle Man or Juggernaut from BKP while your reference to Doug Aldrich suggests a Holydiver. There isn't really a BKP version of a Super Distortion sadly. The music in the video isn't really for me but I'd say the Doug Aldrich tone is too smooth for what you want. My top two options would have to be either a Miracle Man or Juggernaut I think.

Why narrow the BKP options to the Aftermath and Painkiller?

Out of that selection I only played the Suhr and the DiMarzio, and I think there are better options for metal. The Suhr Aldrich, even though it has a lot of bark in the midrange, is too soft in the highs. And the SD is not tight enough in the low end.

PS: I never saw the Aftermath or Painkiller being described as "warm".

I was also considering a Holydiver after doing some research last night.

I have heard clips of the Juggernaut, but it doesn't seem to have the huge, thick sound that I long for.

All suggestions are welcome though!

I would have thought either a Juggernaut or an alnico Nailbomb might do the trick

We do have a very similar set up, Peavey amp, v30 speakers, gibson guitars. How does the nailbomb sound compared to say...an EMG or SD BO?

I have a LP studio and play a 6505+ head. Probably wouldn't class my band as metal but I recently put an Aftermath in my bridge position and it really did make a difference. If you want something with more mid cut or higher gain then maybe look at one of the others.

I have a Nailbomb in my other LP which acts as a backup guitar and I'd say its brighter and more zingy with chords if that makes any sense.

Haven't played EMG to comment, and the only ones I've played from the SD range is the "everything axe set"
