Hey everyone, first post!
I just installed a Jugg in the bridge of my Stephen Carpenter 7 string Tele and it's exceptionally muddled.
I know the pickup already has a tubby, purring feel to it but listening to other sound clips and youtube vids to compare makes me think that I may be having some other issues.
I have to drive it very hard with a screamer in order for the tone to fill out completely and take on any kind of increased gain and many times the strings muddle each other more than I would expect in chords and arpeggios.
I did not replace the pots after swapping out the original EMG 87. I believe they are 250k? I'm wondering if it could be either that, or potentially a wiring issue as I know I already need to resolder the ground (receiving a slight hum).
Chain is just: Tele -> screamer -> Dual Rec w/ 6L6s
Any help would be very much appreciated!

Active pots are more like 25k. There's your problem.

Awesome, thank you! I'll be picking some 250ks up.

Why do it wrong two times in a row? Get 500k.

yeah 500 or 550k is what you need

The BKP 550k pots will be perfect.

Swap your electronics and all should be well.
