Title: Aesthetic Desicions!
Post by: m t soule on February 14, 2014, 08:24:44 PM
After some good chat with BKP's Ben I decided to take the plunge and purchase a RY for the bridge and a VHII for the neck in my 550.
Now its time for the LOOK!
so many choices and endless permutations! what do you guys think?

Black with bolts looks good.

On this occasion I would also say black.

I'd definitely go open coil, black bobbins & nickel screws

The second one, regular black open coils.

Boring I know, but covered pickups don't look right on RGs.

I like the open black coils too. Everything else seems a bit out of place to me.

Open black coils, or maybe black/red zebras.

Apart from black bobbins, maybe red coils might match the body in contrast to the pickguard.

Yeah, coloured bobbins (other than black) could work too.

In which case, maybe a new cover for the single-coil to match the humbuckers.

I am erring towards open, black, nickel screws for the VHII neck
and Chrome covered ray gun etched bridge

I feel odd spending a mad amount of cash and not blinging at least a little

:D

Get zebra coils. Chicks dig zebra coils.

zebra is awful. it looks good like... 1% of the time.

red/black zebra might be cool though

I say open black would look best too. But I wonder if some red knobs and red covers would look good?

I think red/black zebras would look awesome! Especially if you could find a red cover for the single coil and some red knobs.

Now that i think of it, you can get different colour pickguards on eBay to pimp the Ibanez RG

I think I will create an example with all White tomorrow, I was inspired by the rosin abasi signature ibanez

Black open coils or black covers for me. Very traditional but that's what looks best to me.
