Title: Incomming NPD
Post by: Mr. Air on February 17, 2014, 08:38:48 PM
I got a new pedal heading my way. If I'm lucky it'll arrive at my doorstep tomorrow. I won't tell what it is yet, but any guess at what I'm getting is most welcome.

A small one IIRC.

I haven't sent anything out recently though so it's not one of mine ;)

Some interesting/funny thoughts so far, but none have hit the mark. Lew's Metal Zone reply surely made me smile. I haven't played one in 15 years, but if me memory serves me correct it sounded very cr@ppy, at least to my ears. That's why I bought the Boss Xtortion in stead which was actually horrid as well, but at the time I thought it was great. I wonder here that Xtortion is right now. I can't remember if I have sold it, gave it away, or if it's laying around in some dark corner...

I'll give you a little clue: I spend quite some dough on this one.

Eventide something, Strymon something or a Neo Ventilator...?

You're spot on, Juan. It is a used Strymon Timeline that I snagged for a good price. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Oh nice, realyl as shame that I canīt use mine as much as I want to due to my setup. That is one hell of a delay. The possibilities...once you have learned how to use it it really is mindblowing and sounds totally ace.

I'm really looking foreward to playing around with it. I have never been much of a delay guy, but I hope this pedal can change that and it turns out to be a tool of creativity.

Soon as you mentioned dropping a lot of money on it it narrowed down the options quite a bit ;)

The Timeline arrived yesterday and I had some time to play with it. It will defenitely take me some time to uncover all its secrets and possibillities and getting used to using it. I mostly checked out the factory presets yesterday, but did a little fiddling with the dual delay and was quickly inspired by the delays and made a small rythmic chord progression i looped with the ditto and used for some solo noodling - great fun!!!

I will honor the Fernando rule later today a.k.a. pics or it didn't happen.  :D

Looks brill. The knobs are great. I wish I lived next to a big, modern guitar store so I could check out the toys first hand. Oxford Guitar Gallery and JAM guitars used to be close but now they are just closed!

Excellent machine. You can tweak for lightyears with the Timeline.

Indeed. You can kinda tweak one of the 12 modes to death alone. I think most delays have around 10 parameters, some more.

And then there is the looper which adds even more. Being able to switch it pre and post delay is cool.

Oh and if you donīt use the stereo output you can have the right channels be an effects loop through which just the wet signal gets send...so if the 12 delays are not enough for you and you think you are missing options...yeah, you really got problems then.

This reminds me how much I like the Ice, the Swell and Trem delay.

And the expression pedal option....and midi controll.

I must also add that it is pretty cool to set go on the Lo-Fi delay, set time to minimum, full wet and just use it as a Lo-Fi Machine. Lovely for "Wish you were here" into sounds. Similar things can be done with the Filter and the Trem.

Fudge, I forget how great this thing is xD

Yeah, the swell delay is great on the Timeline. Watched several video's, but I'm not in band that needs a hightech delaymachine like the TL.

Never been much of a delay user but this one looks great.

Have fun with it,
Stephan
