A year of hard work and a 21 hour mix session to get Side 1 of my upcoming album complete!! But it's done and mastered now. Here's the rough assembly of Side 1.
This is a LOOONG one, so get a beer or something before playing it. :)

THE EYE OF FIRE AND FEAR
PART I
________________________________________
a. The Valley
Far away – as far at least
Lies the valley as the day
Down within the golden East
One and all, too far away
It is called the valley Nis:
And a Syriac tale there is
Satan’s dart
Angel wings
Broken heart
Unhappy things
Far away – as far at least
Lies the valley as the day
All things lovely – are not they
One and all, too far away?
Thereabout which Time hath said
Shall not be interpreted:
But “the valley Nis” at best
Is “the valley of unrest”
b. The Hirsute Hair Shirt
The First instrumental interlude, featuring our Very Special Guest, the Ozark Mountain duo, Hither & Yon. Take it away, boys!
c. Everything Like Nothing Else
Around the stormy Hebrides –
No wind in Heaven, and clouds to fly
Rustling everlastingly
Thro’ the terror-stricken sky
And Helen, like thy human eye
Low on earth, some violets lie
Nearer Heaven, lilies wave
Banner-like, all above a grave
PART II
________________________________________
a. Helen, Queen Of The Skies
‘Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro’ the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
‘Mid planets her slaves
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold – too cold for me –
There pass’d, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night
b.
For what to them availeth it to know
That Truth is Falsehood – or that Bliss is Woe?
Sweet was their death – with them to die was rife
With the last ecstasy of their statiate life
How far from Hell!
But two: they fell: Heven no grace imparts
To those who hear not for their beating hearts
Sweet was that error – sweeter still in death –
Sweet was that error – ev’n with us the breath
How far from Hell!
c.
She ceas’d – and buried then her burning cheek
Abash’d, amid the lilies there, to seek
A sound of silence on the startled ear
Which dreamy poets name “the music of the sphere”
d. Mercury Retrograde, Phase I
[Instrumental solo 1]
e. Awaken The Dreamer, Part I: Alpha State
Arise! From your sleeping
f. Mecury Retrograde, Phase II
[Instrumental solo 2]
g. Awaken The Dreamer, Part II: Beta State

What I can hear of it sounds beautiful, but for some reason the computer I'm on will only play about three minutes of it before it resets to the start.
-
Thanks for trying! Sometimes SoundCloud's streaming can be wonky w long tracks. It played for me, so I would suggest trying again if you find the time. :)
-
Loads of ideas there. Its really good stuff Ben. The guitars in particular are really well done, perfect vintage tones, but well produced and clear.
I do have a couple of thoughts on it, but I'll listen to it a few more times and send you a PM.
-
I also like the organ sounds
-
Thanks for listening!
Edit: and looking forward to your comments. :)

It was an enjoyable listen - 4 stars out of 5
Cool to hear the results of your work, some of which we've seen with comments and posts here on this forum.

Thanks! I know it's a big enchilada to take in one go; wait til side 2 is complete and it grows to its full length! (About 52 minutes long) :)

FYI, this was mixed in real time in the analogue domain with a combination of plugins (some, mostly EQ) and outboard gear (lots). Master out from the desk was fed back into the interface and recorded as a stereo track and then mixed down as a 24/44.1 stereo wav file in real time.

My primitive mixing setup:

Sounds really good - very Porcupine Tree.... ??? (in a good way)
-
Thanks for listening! And the positive comment. I do, indeed, enjoy Porcupine Tree...
-
I like them too :-) It's really good - lovely tones and sounds....
-
Very nice, I have to say the singing is really well done as well. Here and there it could be a bit more to the point, but I get it that this music style "takes it time".
-
Thanks for being patient with it!
You are correct, there is a certain discipline required while you wait for the 'punch lines'.
And this piece still has another 30 minutes to go! :)
