ive listened to the clips Tim, im sure they are great pickups but im just not hearing the purity of tone that catches my ears. in my R9 i use voodoo 59 pafs of 7.9k and 8.1 k outputs and the tone is crystal clarity albeit classic vintage marshall tones right up to john sykes searing sustain.
for me its circa7.8 - 8.2k k on neck and a max of 8.5k at bridge , any higher and it gets too fizzy.
you got any sweet sweet humbucking pickups in this range, a dedicated low output paf set as ive described would , im sure, generate a lot of interest.

The Mule has a DC of 8.4k on the bridge and 7k on the neck. If you want to go lower than that try the Stormy monday, its DC is 7.4k on the bridge and 6.9k on the neck.

Try the Mules first, they're amazing clarity wise, very much the classic PAF tone. The demo was recorded at a low-ish level through a Hot Plate, and compressed down to 128kbps MP3, so it's more of an indication rather than a highly accurate recording of the capabilities of the mule. Dynamics for one thing don't come over on teh demo as well as they do live through an amp, you've got to play 'em!!

We make ALOT of lower output pickups-Stormy Monday humbuckers,Riff Raff humbuckers and the Mule set all in the DC range you speak of, nearly all of our neck pickups are DC7.6K or lower .The Mule clip is through a cranked JCM800 so maybe you're not picking up on the 'purity' but if you played them you would hear and feel it.
A lower DC of say 8K would open them out a touch but you have to remember,we make pickups for alot of different players and different guitars-just with LPs I vary the wind of the bridge from DC8K all the way up to DC9K for some of the most respected LP builders in the trade. What one person hears as pure another hears as watery and so on. One luthier for instance always specs DC8.9K bridge AIII, now I personally wouldn't fit that in any of my LPs but I've played his and they're bang on-so here we get into the influence of the timber. You've got to look at the bigger picture.
For your information, higher DC doesn't get fizzier until you move from 42 gauge to 43, so a DC9K bridge will sound alot darker with less highs than a DC8K bridge assuming they're both wound with 42 gauge.
