Title: Irish Tour/Irish Tour/Trilogy
Post by: dsguitar1 on July 06, 2014, 01:55:30 PM
Hey guys,

What are your thoughts on Irish Tour neck and middle and Trilogy bridge (for more grunt and screaming high gain leads)

How do they handle, clean Little Wing sounds through to High Gain shred tones?

This is the only video I could find of the pickup pairing

I've got IT's in a maple strat & they're great. You'll get all the stevie ray type sounds but being a little hotter than a standard set gives a fatter tone, they're very stratty though. Can't comment on the trilogy as i've got the IT bridge which is a great pup clean or distorted.
I'd worry the trilogy would overpower the IT neck & middle but maybe in reality it would be ok. I've done a good few posts in the players section.

The IT's are really good for anything from RHCP to SRV. As a sort of overwound Mother's Milk they have more bass and mids and less treble than MM's, but they clean up very nice. It's easy to get that early sixties woody vibe. A TS in the bridge would be a mismatch with the middle-IT on the fourth position, but if you prefer a screaming bridge-pickup over balance, then I would even consider a Sinner, which has impressive shredding-qualities.
