Title: BKP for a very bright PRS CU22 Artist
Post by: Jasonbwebb1980 on July 07, 2014, 02:32:35 AM
I have a gorgeous PRS CU 22 Artist. I love this guitar, but with the pickups it has now (dragon ii). I am looking for a remedy to this. I play everything from soft singer songwriter stuff, to heavy music (heaviest would be Alice In Chains).

I need something that sounds great clean and great with high levels of gain. I don't need intense levels of output, as my amps have plenty of gain. I prefer Alnico V magnets, if that helps.

You probably want something like an Abraxas, Crawler, or Holy Diver

The Crawler was my first choice as it proved to be incredible in my Custom 24.

Go with Crawlers. They sound awesome: big and fat, growling when pushed. They do have enough topend, don't worry. The cleans are also fab, in full humbuckermode or splitted. Very versatile pickups that really sing.

I would have said this as well for the bridge pickups.

Holydiver neck is my favorite neck pickup from these three as it's the most clear.

Cheers Stephan

I ran a Crawler bridge with a Holydiver neck in a PRS Custom 24 and it was fantastic.

Nother vote for the Crawler, for all the reasons stated. Versatile, full of character, etc.
