Title: The right Humbucker??
Post by: Chalky on July 07, 2014, 04:02:43 AM
Hello

I am new to this forum and need some advice. I am looking for a humbucking pickup to put into my LP Standard which has a decent HB growl in series but is also able to offer a decent strat' tone in parallel. It currently has a SD JB, but the parallel configuration is a bit characterless and lacking in dynamic / bite.

It is difficult to make a judgement from the sound bites available on the internet and I am hoping someone might have trodden this path before! Grateful for any advice

regards

Is the JB too bright or dark for your tastes?

Based on the limited information you supply, I'd be inclined to say Holydiver.

Yeah, probably a Diver, but you need to split the bucker for strat tones.

Actually, I'm going to change my mind as to me, the Holydiver doesn't have that 'growl' you're after. I think you need something with 43PE wire to give you that so I think either the Cold Sweat, Rebel Yell or A-Bomb would be better with the A-Bomb giving the most growl and the Cold Sweat least, though still more than the Holydiver.
