Just finished off a couple of custom Gothic Supreme (SG style) guitars
The blue one was a customer order whilst the red one is available to buy £2500
They are both a bit thicker in the body than a normal guitar of this style , so sonically they sit a bit between an SG and a Les Paul.
This is a deliberate move on my part to overcome many of the weaknesses that we see too often in SGs
The thicker body prevents the guitar nosediving so much, gaives way superior strength in the critcal neck/body junction and allows the jack to be side mounted - thus preventing the horrid wood tear-out when you accidentally tread on your guitar lead.
The necks are also a 3 piece design of quartersawn wood with a choice rosewood board and chunky Dunlop frets (6100)
Sperzel tuners, Tonepros Tunamatic and locking tailpiece studs(the ones that open up and lock shut onthe tailpiece).
For the tailpiece we chose to use lightweight Aluminium ones and we fitted the Earvana Compensated Tuning nut as well
Pickups on these are both Bare Knuckle
The blue custom order has a set of the rare 10th anniversary Humbuckers.
the red guitar has a set of Emeralds which sound superb and stay tight in the low end no matter how much gain you use.

That red one, sooooooo nice
-
I saw the word "Gothic" and thought hmmmm....... but they look as fine as always!
I'd normally choose blue over red (that's in guitars, not some kind of veiled football reference) but in this case I think I agree with juansolo.
-
Nice!
I'm the opposite - I'd normally pick red over blue... but, woo, in this case, the blue one is very sexy
-
Both beautiful guitars, but I'd take the blue one over the red one (if I had the money!)
-
Nice :D
I normally pick blue over red (though I like red a lot too) and I prefer the blue one.

The craftsmanship looks impeccable as always, but in terms of style these might be the first Felines that do not strike my fancy whatsoever. Then again I am not an SG friend to begin with.

i agree. i like my SGs to be stripped down and simple. Preferably with P90s.
but, on the other hand, Feline has made many more guitars i've positively drooled over. and i know he likes to do a few showcases, showing the type of thing he can do.
i've a feline v (v-line) which is a real joy. it took a few pickup swaps to get the sound i wanted out of it, but i've no regrets about buying that one ;)

Feline: do you think we could get a side shot, showing the thicker body and jack?
-
Yes these came about because of the customer's spec in part and me working round what I seer as the weaknesses of the SG..
I built the second one (the red one) as a companion build while we were doing the blue one for the customer.
the maple for the fronts on these was taken from the same cut of wood that we used for two of the 20th anniversary Lions
The blue one has the same wood that my own personal 20th Anniversary (number 9) has

and the red one features wood that matches number 11, although the other way round and we didn't stain them the same way

PLEASE can we hear some clips.....
-
All guitars look absolutely stunning, but I favour the Lions.

Since we're comparing SGs and LPs, I sometimes think the SG body shape looks very wide, and the way the controls are crammed together down at the bottom makes it look bigger than it really is. Adding a scratchplate (either type) improves the visual balance, I think.
I used to love SGs but over the years I've got far more into LPs. I still think the SG is an extremely comfortable guitar to play, despite the neck-heaviness.

The neck heaviness makes it an extremly unplayable guitar for me. Just bearable for normal playing but try to play slide on those.
Nevertheless all of these Felines look absolutely stunning.
I like the concept ESP took on the SG with their Viper. The thicker body should provide enough mass to keep it from being neck heavy. Unfortunately the two samples I played (I believe they were the Ltd series) sounded rather dead to me.
Cheers Stephan

Neck joint looks elegant! And nice to see the body isn't too thick.
-
No - it's about LP junior thickness
-
I like it, looks about as thick as a Viper
-
i like the jack too. i thought it would be a surface mount LP-style one, but that recessed one looks alot better, also where you positioned it, slightly more towards the bottom.
sturdy looking neck joint too. i like the design improvements.

Nice to see these finished up :afro:

Yeah - works great with the newer style right angle Neutrik plugs - perfectly placed to wrap the cable over the strap button and out of your way when you are wearing the guitar on a strap.
-
Another vote for the blue - even though I'm sure the red sounds superb too
