Title: New set for my ESP Horizon NTII
Post by: Julian on July 14, 2014, 07:43:29 PM
Hi people!

I am looking for a new set of pickups (well, the bridge pickup is most important) for my ESP Horizon NT II. I love this guitar, but I was never really satisfied with the sound. I substituted the stock SH4 by a spare SH6 (Duncan Distortion). Better - but still not great. To keep it short:

Music/Genre: Progressive Metal/Metalcore/Djent played in drop B -> modern music
What I look for: A clear and tight (!), but not sterile pickup (I played EMGs for almost 5 years and am fed up!). Since I play open chords, string articulation is important.

I was never really happy with the Duncan Distortion. It gets "muddy" quite fast and I am missing the "chug chug" while picking low strings. Maybe this helps
By looking at the specs, the Juggernaut seems to be a good choice. I'd love to hear your opinion, especially while having in mind that this set is going to be installed into a Horizon NTII (light guitar and also quite bright). I would be really happy if there is something passive which satisfies me since I am so tired of EMGs..

Thank you and have a great evening!

- Julian

Black Hawks, Aftermaths or Juggernauts would all seem to fit the bill to me.
