Title: Aftermaths in "Heavy Metal Riff" shocker!
Post by: Nadz1lla on July 22, 2014, 11:40:26 PM
Who'd have thunk it?

I was messing around with micing up the amp and cab today and decided that the intro riff from "Love?" by Strapping Young Lad would be my test piece.

Gear used: Agile Septor Pro (Bare Knuckle Aftermath set - only Bridge was used in this clip, though) - Boss NS2 - Boss GE7 - Digitech Bad Monkey - Jet City JCA20H (modified) - Jet City JCA24s - Shure predecessor to the SM57 (can't remember the proper name off the top of my head) + Shure PG58 on the other speaker - Cubase Essential 5.

Drums: Superior Drummer 2.0 - Metal Foundry add-on - Gene Hoglan kit - Cubase Essential 5

Bass: Squier Jaguar Bass (long scale) - EZMix 2 (Fredrik Thorendal Clean Bass) - Cubase Essential 5

No post-processing or EQing on the Guitars, only level blending between the two mics. One Guitar track Left and One Guitar track Right, REALLY happy how thick it sounds without having to double up each side! A trick I've been trying to nail down for a little while.

Any tips are welcomed.
