I have the Rebel Yell in my 7 string, but I'm going more metal for my 8, I've been recommended the Nailbomb but was wondering if it's in any way similar to the RY and I'd prefer something different for my 8 string.

Keeping it simple the rebel yell is a lot like the nailbomb. The nailbomb in warmer and has more bass and less treble and vice versa.

Nice one - my search for an 8 string pickup is nearing it's conclusion........

i've used both the rebel yell and the ceramic nailbomb in les pauls. the nailbomb was more raw and "angry" than the rebel yell although still in the same ballpark. but i feel like it lacked fullness. that was cured by the juggernauts.

Nailbomb is phatter, hotter, and definitely really angry. It's a raw, tempermental, and really pissed off pickup.
The Juggernaut is way fatter, hotter, and aggressive, but it is more consonant and 'polite' sounding than the Nailbomb.
To compare, the Juggernaut is a tattooed bodybuilder (Lee Priest) in a tux. The Nailbomb is a scenester with lots of metal in his face, crazy hair, tattoos all over, and crazy clothes! The Nailbomb is a fantastic pickup with lots of bite.
The Rebel Yell is a more consonant, clearer, and brighter pickup than the Nailbomb. They are similar but I was also surprised how different they are. The Rebel Yell has that same 'polite' sort of a vibe as the Juggernaut.
