Title: Juggs in a bright guitar?
Post by: ProgMetalFiend on September 02, 2014, 12:28:08 AM
Does anybody have experience putting the Juggs in fairly bright guitar? My ax has a basswood body (fairly heavy for basswood), maple neck/fretboard. 95% sure i want the HD but that other 5% wonders how the juggs would sound in there. Thanks \m/

Both are said to work very well in bright guitars (only know the HD personally). It really depends on what sound you want as the Jugg is very modern in base tone while the HD is classic at heart but very versatile.

Juggs are definitely awesome but it is quite a strong flavour.  As much as they are my favourite offering from BKP I don't know that I would want them if it was my only guitar.  This is only because they really don't have the R&R soul about them and they really excel at metal / prog rock / hard rock.

Thanks again guys for the info, its not my only guitar so that is not a huge factor, as i have some aftermaths in another, and a nazgul/sentient set in a 7. So i kinda dig the modern tone, i like to play metal and prog metal. I also have a painkiller/cold sweat set sitting on idle atm due to not having a guitar to put them in yet(gonna have to fix that soon as they sound awesome as well :cheesy:).

Well, they sound like the perfect pickups for your needs.

The versatility for clean work, tight rhythm, and smooth and rich leads is phenomenal.  You're going to seriously love a set of these!!!

my juggernaut worked really well when i had it in an alder strat with an all maple neck which is overall a relatively bright setup. granted, it was a baritone neck but it still did great. i'll link a video

Whelp, they're excellent pickups for metal and prog metal / rock.  I have been beyond happy with them in my superstrat and I happily recommend them to anyone looking to play a similar style in a similar guitar.
