Hi guys,glad to have a topic here，
I'm consider to change my stock pickups for my JEM7V,which has an alder body with maple bolt-on neck and rosewood fingerboard.I'd like something warm,round and fluid for the neck,for playing leads like Steve Vai,Joe Satriani,Marty Friedman and EVH,maybe some nightwish solos.I love how evo neck sound but like more clarity of it.
As for the bridge,more aggressive metal sound is needed,for playing thrash and power metal.After some work I decide to have a cold sweat in the neck and a alinco nailbomb in the bridge.Is that combination proper for the JEM?I've read that A-Bomb will loose some bottom-end in the JEM(definitely not what I want) and cold sweat may be too bright,is that true?How about Juggernaut and any other pickup you think is more workable for me?

You might want to consider the ceramic version of the Nailbomb. More bottom end, tighter, and a bit scooped in the mids but not as much as a Cold Sweat or Miracle Man bridge pickup.
When someone says the Cold Sweat might be too bright, they are generally talking about the BRIDGE pickup. The neck CS is not especially bright

I would think the Alnico NB might not have enough bass for the JEM, but after playing my JEM with stock Dimarzio's, there is very little bottom end in those, painfully thin at times. :angry:
The CS neck is not bright, darker than you would guess.

Agree to your point absolutely!Consider about holydiver now,seems much more fuller than nailbomb in an alder body with maple neck

Nailbomb has quite some lowmids and agressive uppermids, where the Diver has the focus on the centermids with a rounder topend compared to the NB. The Diver is a safe bet for an alder bolt-on. The Crawler will do too: power meets PAF-pedigree. The lowend a tad more loose compared to the Diver. Overall the Crawler sounds imo a bit fuller.

A crawler in the neck would be a beast in bright jem i think.
in my basswood rg its real warm and fat and can pierce if you attack it aggressively.
For the bridge my holy diver in basswood with maple is a nasty (but goody) piece of work. It can get a bit harsh for me clean but nails randy rhodes with overdrive and megadeths rust in peace sounds. With distortion I really love it.
The cbomb in my basswood some times feels a little hollow (wether thats good or bad is a matter of opinion). As if the growl and snarl through distortion come from a larger animal than the HD. Can also be a little harsh for me clean.
I hope these comments help as a reference point for choosing for your jem. I have my heat set on a nice set of juggs for my basswood/maple jem.
