Title: CMC Race -- conquered!
Post by: Plenum n Heather on September 28, 2014, 01:24:04 PM
Ran the CMC Race NYC (http://cmcrace.com) yesterday with a friend and my 19 year old son. It was ... Extremely difficult!

Between the heat, complete lack of any shade, and having to run 2 miles on an open Tarmac/runway, the environment, while not hilly, was definitely hostile. Most of the running was front loaded after the PIT and there were many, many obstacles. I actually had no major problems with any obstacle including the 30 ft high monkey bars (I did the entire obstacle in 30 seconds I think), but there were a lot of 7 ft walls and 5 ft walls that required vaulting.

Most of the obstacles had a hard side and a slightly less hard side (like a 1x4 in the middle of the 7ft wall to use as a foot hold); I opted for the hard side on  every obstacle.

The only one that gave me real problems was the rope climb as the rope was unweighted and the knots were spaced too far for my short body. So, I climbed the truss instead.

The PIT was one of the hardest obstacles I have ever done. I did the Alpha level. 96 reps (in 5 minutes).

as with all these sporting events, i'm sure this took a bunch of really hard work in training.

Thanks! I usually take 5-6 months to prepare.
