So I found this simple mod that can be done to a HRDx, to get a better bass response, which seems like just the thing I'm after. Heres the link:
http://studentweb.eku.edu/justin_holton/jvmods.html#bass
Would I need to drain the filter caps for this? Or is it a pretty safe mod? Seems like all I need is a length of solder, or a wire, both of which I have. If I were to do this I could probably just hold the length of insulated wire in rubber gripped pliers whilst soldering each contact, meaning I wont get shocked? It doesnt say anything there about draining em, but I just need to be certain before I try it.
edit. nevermind it looks like I will have to drain the caps and remove chassis. Whats the safest way to drain em?
Thanks for any help

There is dedicated forum around on the net for Hotrod lovers.

No matter what you are doing in there discharge the caps, you just need to drop somthing or put your hand in the wrong place and you will be cursing for quite some time.

Tom....
PLEASE BUY A NEW AMP!
The HRDX's are really nice amps, I wouldn't want to see it pulled apart and bits added to it, an amp is an amp, leave it be!

Now whats the fun in that

Because no matter how many mods Tom does to the amp, its never going to sound like the Marshall he wants it to be.
Just the way I see it.

haha yeah I guess..but it does sound nice! I just think sometimes it can get a bit muddy and thought this might help. That being said, I would love a Marshall I just cant afford it.
