Title: Lugs on CTS pots
Post by: BazC on October 09, 2014, 11:28:12 AM
Excuse this possibly daft question but I'm about to rewire my first guitar so I'm being a little cautious. The guitar is a tele and I've bought CTS pots to replace the cheap ones currently fitted. Each of the new pots has a lug attached presumably to stop the pot rotating but this obviously won't work on a tele control plate so…

Is it best to snap/cut the lugs off or use some sort of spacer between the pot and and control plate?

As the tele plate is thin you won't need much thread pushing through - just enough for the washer and nut.
So you'll probably need to use a couple of star washers or a nut and a star washer to hold the body of the pot back from the plate
As such you may find that the anti-rotation tab isn't an issue, but it wouldn't hurt at all to simply remove it as a matter of course (grab with pliers and twist)
