I'm trying to find songs / videos etc that really showcase that kind of beautiful fluting sound that neck pups are capable of.
So far I'm listening a lot to different versions of Little Wing, which I guess owes a lot not just to that neck sound, but also perhaps to a certain type of amp (Fender cleans?).
Let's hear what everyone's fave "Neck Pup" moments are. I'm guessing there are a lot in Blues music in general.
I'm researching this a lot as I have a new guitar on the way and I'm having a Humbucker set with a coil-tapping option on the tone pot, and I want to get that perfect sounding neck pup. Pretty much decided on an Aftermath for my bridge as I have an Aftermath set already and very pleased with it (the neck pup gets a rather nice sound on a good clean channel) but the neck is still open to change and research. :azn:

Little Wing: strat on the neckpickup -> Fender (style) amp. An old Plexi with the volume on the guitar turned down works too.

I liked little wing with my crawler but the vhii has a real player sensitive dynamic to it, hit it hard and it's "voice" changes to spanky sharp, play soft and and it round warm bottom sounds out ( ; p)
Both vhii and crawler split nice indeed

Most Dave Murray solos feature a really sweet neck pickup tone.
Yngwie's first solo album, Black Star is a great example.
Michael Schenker, just pick anything, but in particular Never Trust A Stranger.

For a neck single coil sounds I love SRV by Eric Johnson.
Completely different style but Dave Murray and Yngwie and Petrucci more so have influenced me to always solo with the neck pup.
I prefer my vhii neck for cleans to any thing ive played so far.

Murray uses a Paf Pro in his Fender when I remember well.

For me, it's tough to beat a bit of David Gilmour for delicious neck tone.

Ah yes, Mr Gilmour, how could I forget that tone?! Also partial to Knopfler's neck sound.
Thanks so far, guys, the VHII seems to have quite a few mentions, so that's giving me some direction.
Let's have more video spammage of everyone's faves.

Devy's Deep Peace solo... a bit stingy, but... I dunno man. It's focused and ethereal at the same time. I love this live version just a bit better than the studio jam.
