Hi, following on from a previous thread where I asked for views on the differences between a CS and a VH II neck, I have another question to ask ...
I have a Crawler in the bridge of my ESP Eclipse but find its neck counterpart to be too dark and bluesy, so I'm after another pickup to replace it. The Eclipse is similar to a Les Paul in construction but is a lot less resonant and more neutral sounding (but with a slight drop off at either end). The neck will be used for fluid and articulate leads and should be sympathetic to the Crawler that it's being paired with. My current thinking is that a VH II neck best fits the bill, what do you think?

A VHII would do fine. The Emerald-neck (a tad more vintage perhaps) too.

I'd be worried that the Emerald neck would be too similar to the Crawler's as they are both A4 based. How do the two compare?

No, I think it's closer to a Mule-neck, but owners are welcome to chime in on this.

Didn't slartibartfast42 pair his Crawler bridge with a Holy Diver neck?
Seemed happy with it

I have the Crawler bridge paired with a VHII neck in one guitar, and I have a Crawler set in another. Compared to the Crawler neck the VHII has more bite and more bottom end. It' tighter overall and better suited to high gain IMHO.
So far my favorite BKP neck humbucker has been the Holydiver neck. Have not played it together with the Crawler bridge, however.
