All,
Just curious. I play mostly LP's but love the strat single coil neck position through an old Fender Bassman. I use Mules and Rebal Yells in my LP's. Has anyone tried the Mississippi Queen P90 in a humbucker size in the neck position in a LP?
Thanks!

I can say that I love P90s in midrange heavy guitars like LPs. To me they beat out a lot of humbuckers there cause the P90 character adds more high and low end while opening up the midrange. It just works extremly well with the warm, middy mahahony character of most LPs. Plus the bottom end is much more defined and natural compared to HBs imho, which is another great factor on neck pickups, and also expecially with that scale length.
You will not get a full single coil style tone as a P90 is fatter, warmer, more powerful, and has a certain roar. To me the "best of both worlds" is what drives it home.

I had it on the neck with a Black Dog on the bridge, and the only was I would do it again is as a set. It has a different character to humbuckers, did not balance well to my taste. Also, it sounds nothing like a strat single coil (try a split vhii or abraxas for that).
That being said, it's a great pickup, and wouls love a full set on another LP.

I have often done Mule in bridge and MQ in neck
Works well in the cases I have used it
The MQ isn't that different in chaacter to the Mule , just has more of that difinitive single coil-ness about it
Here's one we made earlier:

I've had an ABomb/MQ combo in a couple of LPs and it is a killer combo.

Thanks all,
Might be a cool experiment. Will let you know.
