new version of my bands vintagey/classic rock ish song...

all into zoom ps-04 so the guitars tone dont really come through....

im rhythm not lead, using gibbo les paul melody maker with tapped bkp-92....

what do you guys think? not my favourite out of our songs its a bit too 'vintagey' for my liking.... but what do you think- recording/sound and song wise....

no vocals as we have no singer as yet...

That was very good but I hate the electronic drums, the drummers really good though. I want a band  :(

How old are you guys?!  That's pretty damn good!  The drummer's great, but he overplays.  Old joke:  How can you tell when the guitarist has a solo?  The drummer takes a solo.

Some of your rhythm playing, especially at the beginning, is kinda weird with the drums--the accents fall in different places.  I think you need to work on emphasising the same beats consistantly.  Other than that, good stuff, Sam!

EDIT:  To answer your quesiton about the sound and mixing quality, I think you've done a pretty good job.  The drums aren't mixed to my liking, though.  I'd bring the kick up in the mix and reduce everything else, except maybe the snare.  The drums--especially the cymbals--are a bit tinny, but I'm no mixing guru, so I'm afraid I can't help you much in this area.  The bass player doesn't sound confident and needs to learn more about dynamics.

we're all 15 (just turned) except for bassist whose 16.

yer the rhythm thing at the beginnings WEIRD.... thing is... cause we're all recording one at a time, and the drummer plays different rolls every time we play that song, its all a bit of guesstimation....

but yer, i need to work on keeping a constant beat/rhythm going.

Cool.  With the rhythm, I'm talking more about when you start with the power chord chugging stuff early on.  You could play accents on the one beat of every other four, starting with the first one.  Heh.  Does that make sense?  So like:  1 [/color]2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, 1[/color] 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, etc.

Or do whatever you like, but that's what came to my mind when first listening to it.

yer the mixing of drums will have to be done by our drummer on the actual electronic kit....

the bass player is good but i think needed to be turned up a lot in this one... just like me at the beginning hes a bit all over the place- we need to work on that, really is hard without playing WITH the drummer.... we listen on headphones but theres a certain amount of prediction that has to be done

EDIT: oh yer cool see what you mean, yer the lead.g. was saying something about accenting lol but then said i was doing it 'wrong' so i reverted to just chugging lol.... this lead.g. is a guy who thinks 3+3+2 over 8 is a legitimate time signature...  :lol:

will try and do that more next time, definately. we knew the beginning wasnt quite right but werent sure how apparent it would be, thanks for pointing it out mate.

Drummer is abit manic huh, v.good though, just may need some restraining, but don't they all LOL

Just got my MRS-8, OMG, figure ya gotta be 15 to figure this thing out (screaming headache already!) lol.

wooot...yea im cool coz im in sams band

To be honest, the mixing could be better but its just so hard with the equipment we have (sambos lil zoom) and the software it comes with isnt exactly amazing. Everyone was a bit dodgy in places (speshly the intro) coz recording seperately is actually damn hard!!

The electronic drums sounded pretty good i thought, although no replacement for a proper mic'ed up acoustic kit.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sambo's bringing his troops here now (shakes in slippers LOL).

Just not feeling well enough to mess with it Sam.

I booted it up and tested it. Dunno what the heck I did do, but got some samples, dist,chorus etc. Beats and recorded ok.

Need some well/quiet time to study.
Still am a BIG newbie with the GT-8.

Will all be good though.

Keep up the good work StoneField!! Good stuff!, needs an Engl sound though  :twisted:

haha this is the beginning of the end for the forum as you know it... before long there will be subliminal messages all over the place secretly telling you to praise us.... then our supporters will gradually take control of all other forums like this one and rule them as they wish....  non-believers will be caged up with all people who hate baritones and like asian films, and they will all slowly perish due to 1,000,000,000 watt speakers playing the Barbie Theme Tune directly at them from all angles.... :twisted:  Stonefield will soon envelope the world....  :twisted:

anyway, world domination plans aside, good luck with it nick, i got the basics of the ps-04 then didnt go any further for fear of insanity.

lol yer an ENGL would do nicely... just the satisfaction of beating my mates AVT hands down would be enoug fr me.... let alone the "silly grin" factor....

Hey Sambo I was quite impressed. I would echo some of the suggestions above, ie it was a tad busy but nevertheless, it was enjoyable. You must let us hear more.

cheers beatle! i think next few sessions we're concentrating solely on recording so should have some stuff soon.

PLUS! remember that folky type thing i put on soundclick? the one that went really fast by accident lol?! well the guy im doing a sort of collabaration with should be getting back to me soon with some vocals, so ill keep you posted on that one too.
