above are a few pics and my quick run through with my mesa. these pickups definitely sound great through my mesa for my play style but they'd be even more amazing through something vintagey. very happy with these pickups. really brought new life to my 335. the mule i had in there was great but i needed somethin a bit brighter so it was likely to be switched with a riff raff set until i saw a set of these for sale. i believe either set wouldve been great! but i think these 10th anni's wouldnt be as strong as the riff raffs.

Good to see them finally in there! Nice runthrough too. Look forward to your further assesment of them.
A more vintage amp certainly works very well with them. Have you send em through the Orange yet?
-
havent used them in the orange yet but i will soon and i'll be sure to add some more footage of that. its a very different sound but its still pretty modern. i'm selling one of my guitars soon and with the money i'm looking to get one of the more vintage style mesa boogie amps hopefully.

I know the Electra Dyne is discontinued but do yourself a favour and track one down used. Seriously. Do it! It's a stinking BRILLIANT amp that co-operates well with BKP, even with the unique design.

The Electra dyne is actually the one I want

Looking good, I suspect a perfect match.

agreed. this 335 has been a fussy one and these pickups have been the cure. the stock pickups were very sterile. tried a seymour duncan invader because i had one lying around. it was better but way too muddy. tried a BK mule and was so close to what i wanted but still fell short. but these are just splendid. the search is over for this guitar. very happy.

Looks fab!

It's a pretty phenomenal amplifier. If you get a head, I'd recommend the matching RA 27" 1 x 12 extension cab to go with it. It's great for practicing and the small stuff, and it should work well with other heads in addition to the 'Dyne.

yeah i read the royal atlantic cabs are just a renamed electra dyne cab. do you know what speakers are in it ( i realise i could just google it... lol) but i do quite like my orange 2x12 (cb). something to think about. i'd much prefer to buy the head than a combo.

The 27" RA cab comes as a 1 x 12 or a 2 x 12. The only difference is the baffle, number of speakers, and the weight.
The RA 1 x 12 comes stock with the mc90 (it's a mesa spec Celestion CL80 with a dust cap and a bigger dust cap). It's a meater sounding speaker which works well for leads and cleans. The tone has more of a low mid emphasis and more of a notch in the high mids which doesn't go well with a Recto, but works far better with the Electra Dyne. It gives the amp a unique but also a really good tone.
Aside from that speaker, you can order the cab with a v30 or their new Fillmore 75 (eminence), which is similar to a v30 but with smoother and less buzzy highs.
The 1 x 12 I have sounds really quite amazing, you would not be disappointed. Orange cabs are cool but I find the buzzy highs to sound weird with mesa amps. Just my opinion. I'd hold onto the Orange cab and get the 1 x 12 extension cab so you have the Electra Dyne head. That way you can run it with a 2 x 12 or a 4 x 12. The 1 x 12 is fantastic for 'loud-ish' bedroom tones and it records well. The Electra Dyne is a LOUD amp and it is punishingly so through a 2 x 12 or a 4 x 12. Just putting that out there.
-
yeah i'll certainly consider it man. thanks for the advice. i've been considering getting another cab anyway. i have another 4x12 peavey 5150 cab. that i use at my practice space previously with my 5150 head and currently with my orange cr120 but i've wanted another 2x12 with different speakers to give me more options.
-
If you go with the RA 2 x 12 I would consider the following:
1) Ask Mesa for 1 v30 and 1 c90
2) A Filmore 75 and a c90
3) 2 Filmore 75s.
The mixture of the v30 and the c90 will give you the option to mic the v30 for rhythm tones and it also smooths out the top end and yields a better feel for leads.
The 1 x 12 is a great option because it really helps with the low volume bedroom type tones.

okay cool. will do.

Beautiful guitar mate! Looks like a winning combo
-
How would you say they differ from the Mule ?
-
brighter definitely. mules have a bit more weight behind them. likely because of the difference in magnets. i feel like they work really well in the 335. the mule was great but i think it is a bit better suited in a les paul.
