Title: 7 string locking tuners?
Post by: littleredguitars2 on December 31, 2014, 10:18:22 PM
hey guys i'm looking to find some good locking tuners for my 7 string. i'm assuming i'll have to buy the tuners by the piece. most places only sell sets of 6. and i need one that'll be able to fit that big low B string. i use a 64 guage and it BARELY fits in the cr@ppy tuner thats on there now.

any suggestions?

I would recommend Sperzels, I have a set in my Dean and they`re amazing.

7 string? I`ve read on different forums that in cases like that people drill one tuner to make the string fit. If you can buy one separate Sperzel tuner it`s worth of try.

actually, by the look of it, drilling seems to be quite common. I was shocked myself, cause thought these days there`ll be plenty of 7 string locking tuners, but people just drill...

anyway, Sperzels Trim Locks are superb. Have mine for year and a half or so and never let me down.

Wouldn't drilling damage the locking cam?

Sperzel now make a low string tuner with a bigger hole.
We keep them in as spares to add to a 6 string set to make a 7 string set when someone needs a 7 string set.
Although we seem to only have black......
