What difference do different pickup mounting ring heights make? For instance, when the bridge one is high and the neck one is low???
-
the heights change? i just thought they were at a constant height that went with the contours of the body.... so that it kept both pickups same distance from the strings...
-
well you can buy them at differen theights...or is this just proving you roight...in that you chooose a height that coresponds to the surface of your guitar?
-
i really dont know lol... i think it could be... i know that on some guitars the bridge and neck rings are different heights to keep them level because of body contours.... or at least i think i know that...
ok im confused.

if you look at a les paul, the neck comes out of the body at a backward angle, so the strings are further away from the body at the bridge than at the neck, so the bridge mounting ring is taller than the neck pickup ring. they're also curved to match the top carve. then there are flat bottomed ones for non carved top guitars. of course, not all guitars have an angled back neck, on my eggle berlins both mounting rings are the same.
hope i've explained the right thing...
