Title: Aftermath 7 vs Juggernaut 7 in Ibanez RGD2127fx for tight djent/rythym/leads?
Post by: rgbroady on February 11, 2015, 10:06:18 PM
Hey fellas, I am looking for a good 7 string pickup for my basswood Ibanez RGD2127fx. I really like the Born of Osiris, the discovery, and the new album. I am looking for a good all around pickup, but my main concern is the tight syncopated rythym tones like in the song "Illusionist", and "Follow the Signs". Does anybody have any suggestions. I would like suggestions from people that actually play 7 strings, and are familiar with this genre. I have a pod hd pro, and rokit 6's.

Aftermath track extremely fast and deliver that specific detuned aggressive djent with more clarity than anything. That being said, it's not a real versatile pickup and the highs can get piercing at times. The Juggernaut will also deliver, not quite as extreme, but presents a really cool hollow mid sound with highs that never get piercing, always present but smooth. Much more versatile than the Aftermath, the cleans are spectacular to go along with that modern high gain capability which is a true strength. Both pickups have that signature BK tight low end which will rule on your 7;:the Juggs may be phatter; Aftermath is ridiculous tight and this is really revealed during  fast single note palm mute riffage.

I think Juggs was designed for basswood and it is by far my favorite pickup, but know that the Aftermath does that one thing better than any. They are both outstanding but there's my thoughts on how each one leans. Hope this helps

Juggerset is seriously amazing.  If I was to get a 7 string guitar, I'd put Juggernauts in that guitar even though I have them in a six string axe already.
