I just changed the PI valve in my Orange TH30 and the old one came out, the new one went in - no issues. The trouble is that now I seem to have no control over anything. I have the volume set to zero on both channels and the guitar still plays nice and loud. When I turn the volume controls all I get is the same volume but with added whines and whistles and squeals. Any ideas?

Hi, what were the symptoms that led you the change the pi and are these exhibited by the new tube? The PI shouldn't effect the volume levels, since it is only responsible for feeding the signal to the power section. What you are describing sounds similar to using an FX return as an input.

Problem solved and lesson learned. When I disconnected everything to change the valve I must have got a couple of the cables mixed up and put them back in the wrong sockets! :embarrassed:

Ha, glad you found your answer. I once rewired a guitar late one evening and in my haste, reversed the output jack's hot/ground. It took me a week to figure out why my guitar was making so much noise. To compound the issue, I was in the middle of an amp build, so it sent me on a troubleshooting rampage on that end.
