Well as people will probably know from my past posts, I have just purchased a Holy Diver/Emerald combo for my Floyd Rose ESP Eclipse, and a Black Dog/Mule combo for my Full Thickness Eclipse.
Now I have another couple guitars I'm wanting to kit out so I have complete versatility. I think I've posted about these before, but I'm sure I was after something different then. I'm currently in a Hard/Heavy Rock band, but I'm looking at starting a function band for extra income. So need something for everything
I'll start off with my MusicMan Silhouette:
This is currently an HSS guitar, but can easily be changed to a SSS guitar. I'm looking for something which captures the lighter side of music. Pretty much Jimi Hendrix, to Mark Knopfler, to Eric Clapton, to Eric Johnson. A beautiful clean tone. Just so I can nail them tones if the song demands it.
Secondly, I have another Full Thickness Eclipse (basically a LP Custom):
For this, I'm really looking for something which shies away from the Holy Diver and Black Dog, as these are obviously high output for the HD, and a more agressive, thicker PAF for the Black Dog. I really want something extremely versatile. Basically a guitar I can pick up and play classics on. Pretty much function/pub band style music.
Any ideas or recommendations?

HSS Silhouette: Abraxas-Apaches. Split the Abraxas for a nice quack on the fourth position. I picked the Abraxas for the better split and in general the Abraxas and also the Crawler perform very well in alder bol-on guitars. The Apache can do way do more than the fifties style F-tones. I think the pickup is the BKP that comes close to the Eric Johnson-sound. For Knopfler that would be Sultans. And for Hendrix Mother's Milk or the Pat Pend 59 slabboard/ 63 veneer board. But I think the Apache will cover a lot of ground and they deilver majestic cleans.
For the Eclipse: Mules? Nantuckets?

I've actually been speaking to Jonathon at Feline, and I'm going for a a set of ASL TubeSnakes.
I'll look at the Apaches now. DO you recommend 550k pots?
-
250k for the singles.
-
I also suggest Abraxas/Apaches. AMAZING combo and the Abraxas splits like nobody's business.
-
Have you had experiences with the Apaches? And what pot would you I use for them in this instant?
-
500k for the Abraxas, 250k for the singles. Inspect the Suhr-wiringdiagram (just Google that).

The Apaches are in my other #1 guitar and are paired with the Abraxas. I use the Suhr wiring scheme as referred to be Telerocker. The Apaches and 63 Veneers are both winners, with the Apaches being just a bit greasier or juicier, if you will. I have confused both on my own recordings before.

I'll go for that then :)

Ha, stoked to hear what you think of them. I really miss my EBMM Silhouette Special. Had two of them, but couldn't get used to the 1-5/8" nut width. Really amazing instruments, though and I actually enjoyed the stock pickups at the time.

What I like most about Music Mans are the superbs necks/playability.

Great neck profiles. Warmoth's wolfgang and 59 contours come really close.
