I have a set of '69 type single coils in my Deluxe Strat, but i prefer a bit more beef in the bridge.
I don't want the bridge humbucker to be too overpowering with the middle and neck pups, so would the Mule be ok for a Strat?
I think i will leave the pots at 250k, as i don't want the neck to be bright. I had that problem before with another Strat that had 500k pots and 3 SC pups.
Also Ben suggested the Abraxas when i mailed them.

Do you mean Fender CS 69s? These are like BKP's Mother's Milks in output. I reckon an Emerald would be good for what you say.

I have a VHII with my Mother's Milks and like that, I've also got a Stormy Monday in another with Sultans (that's one of my favourite combos).

The Single coils are David allen Voodoo pups, which would be moddled on the Fender '69 pups i would guess.
The Emerald is not a pup i have tried before, but the brightness would be countered by the 250k pots, so it could work.
The VHII is another punchy option which is a Strat thing. I have thought about the Stormy because i don't want it too much hotter than the SC's

Bump......
I still haven't made my mind up on this one.
what would the stormy monday or PG blues sound like in the strat compared to the single coils?
I have been looking at the seymour TB-59 also

Personally I would hesitate to install something like Mules or PG Blues in an alder/ash strat. They're balanced in mahogany, but can sound whimpy and bright in strats with the classic timbers. I would go at least Abraxas as Ben suggests and rewired it to 500k for the bridge and 250k for the single coils including autosplit on the fourth position. The Abraxas splits well. That way you get imo the best out of the humbucker and the sc's.

The Stormy Monday & PG Blues are going to sound pretty similar. You won't have the pair to take advantage of the out of phase sound. They are a bit fatter than you might expect and work well with the single coils. I like AII pickups in a Strat, I wouldn't put a Mule with AIV in one though. It's more of my thing, rather than anything though. I just don't like the combination with the single coils.

Yes, it's tough to pick a pup for a strat when they are made to work in Les Paul guitars. Maybe the splitable Abraxas is the best option.
