How are blubirds? They always look quite interesting.

I'm sure someone on here has one, because they mentioned it in the thread about Poplar body woods in the 'Guitars Amps FX' section. :)

Hey Sambo, Guild are pretty good- usually very well put together and overlooked. They are owned by Fender nowadays- they make great acoustics too. I used to have a Guild Bass  years ago- beutiful guitar but hard times forced me to sell it.

The acoustics certainly up to the early 70s have a great reputation.

The Bluesburd is the favourite guitar of one of the members of Garbage (Erickson I think) and they have a great reputation, I know other more famous players have used them but I can't remember who.

I would be tempted to suggest Mules may be a good place to start.

As I remember the blueshawk can be thought of as a low calorie LP

I see Gibson now do a Blueshawk style Lucielle (pardon spelling), how cool is that (still can't afford one though).

Well you can only describe a Gibson LP as fat (it's not a critisism just a statement of fact)

I guess the Bluesbird is the skinny latte ;)

i see where you might get the idea that the blueshawk is like a baby les paul, but it's really nothing like it.  of course it's much smaller and lighter, but also it has a very different neck with a 25 1/2 " scale length like a fender, and actually feels and sounds quite a bit like a telecaster, all together it's like a cross between a tele and a les paul junior.
the pickups are unlike any others, they look like p90s but are made more like fender single coils, with six magnetic poles rather than a bar under the coil.  i love mine! :P
slightly off topic though...sorry...guild bluesbird, eh?  looks nice

Its gotta be Mules for that thing - or Mississippi Queens - or a mixture - or maybe Crawlers or Black Dogs or maybe Stormy Mondays.... :D

From blues description, it sounds like it needs something special (though ofcourse BK pickups are all special).

Though the mule bridge and P90 neck sounds like a good starting point  to me.

Great guitar, that Guild. I think a set of Stormy Modays would suit it best. Those would keep the original vibe of the guitar alive.

Guild are fine guitars. Fender kinda killed them, they only make jazz boxes and accoustics now.

As soon as I can afford one, I'll try to find a Guild X160 Rockabilly. It's supposed to blow most Gretsches out of the water.
