Im planin on buyin some warpigs for my epi sg. The guitar has gold hardware but im not sure if i should get gold or distressed covers. Il post a pic of the guitar soon
-
For gold hardware I'd go with gold or 'aged' gold. BK's most recent distressed covers are greenish-brownish-greyish. Unless those colours match the body (black for instance), I wouldn't choose distressed. I think guitars don't need more than three or four different colours, but that's just my personal taste.
-
If you like the distressed look, you could distress the hardware to match the pickup. Just ask Tim or Mr Pig how to do it.
-
The distressed covers can create a nice contrast, even if you're hardware is all one colour.
I did this with the Miracle Man in my Kamikaze 4 ...

I think that it really looks cool with the chrome hardware.
Granted, you really can't go overboard when your guitar is day glo green. PDT_008

Truly is a good job you can really "play" with a guitar like that TO
-
I'm not a big fan of gold hardware (too bling), but it seems a shame to alter it. I'd go for the gold covers as it will be a wolf in sheeps clothing.

HA!
That's what I say ... you'd better be able to throw down if you play a guitar like that, or people will laugh you off the stage!

I had gold covers on my Mules to start with but then I got em changed for black ones and had gold polepieces. In my opinion it looks much better, I actually think the ones with gold covers look pretty cheap since installing the black ones into my guitar, it just looks more classy and not over the top.
-
i agree, black with gold polepieces would prob look prty BAD. Think i could get the allen bolts in gold?

look tom... when are you gonna learn.... us southerners use the word bad as good.... how many times do i have to tell you!!!!????
-
My brother's having an English language exam this weekend. So you're saying that when the examiner says 'your pronounciation is bad', he should ask back 'Do you mean 'bad' in a US way?'

lol, yer this isnt off subject at all but I am southern as a monkeys uncle
-
i just had an idea. Would it be possible to get gold "battle-worn" covers?
-
yer that would look good EXCEPT.... would you then have chrome, gold AND black on the axe... cause the battle worn covers (which look awesome) expose the chrome underneath.... am i right in thinking this?
dunno how much this would affect the look but it may not go with the black.... then again it may do i dunno..
what colour hardware did you say you had again?
-
its gold but i have black knobs and black fine-tuners on the tailpiece so i think it would probably work fine. I was gonna up a pic 4 ya'll 2 see but i cant find the cradle thing 4 my digital camera... bollocks (always wanted 2 say that 8) )
-
hahaha...
yer i think it could match really well with your axe then.... dunno... go with your gut instinct
or try using paint for an idea of what it would look like lol :P
-
When trying to decide whether the camo covers on the Nailbomb would look right on my Sunburst Les Paul I grabbed the picture from the site and used photoshop to superimpose them over my pickups on a picture of my guitar.
-
^ woah, that cleared some things up. I thought he meant actual paint.

 dont be silly
