Title: Mother's Milk Pickups and Overtones
Post by: scottyb on February 14, 2016, 10:43:32 AM
Hi there
I have a set of Mother's Milk pickups in my strat. They sound great for the most part - but on the D and particularly the G strings up above the 14th fret with some gain added there are awful overtones produced.
Sounds terrible.
I have tried lowering the pickups and that hasn't made a significant change to this issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks so much for your time
Scott

First thing IŽd check then, if lowering was fruitless, is actually the guitar itself. Could possibly be an issue with the neck or frets there creating a light buzz which translates to overtones.

Other than that IŽll need to think a bit more.

Thank you
I'll look into the frets and see if that might be the issue.
All the best

Yeah, just listen closely acoustic and see if there is anything going on. If so, great, we have the culprit. Otherwise check back and weŽll see.

Thank you
I've actually just had a play acoustically and the G is buzzing along the entire length of the string now.
I'll start by changing it and then look at the tuning post, nut and bridge to see if anything there is causing the issue.
Never had an issue with that before.
Take care

Interesting. Let us know how that resolves the issue or if it turns out to only be part of it.

Good luck!
