Title: Recommendation for Tele Bridge & Strat Neck (Vintage/Vintage Hot)
Post by: obscured on March 14, 2016, 08:33:58 AM
Hi all! Was hoping for some input about potential pickup combos for a parts Tele I'm putting together. The body will be Ash, and the neck is rosewood/maple. I've decided on a Tele bridge and Strat neck combo, and I've narrowed my choices down to the Yardbird/Brown Sugar and Mother's Milk/Irish Tour. Any suggestions about which combo might work best in this kind of guitar would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Good to see some tele-love on the BKP-forum!

Ash can be quite percussive and bright, so I would pick something not too bright. Yardbird or Brown Sugar is a matter of taste. For the single coils I would go Irish Tours with these timbers. Anyway IT's can get very close to Mother's Milk, when you turn down the volumeknob. I'm quite sure the IT's work nice together with the tele-bridges you've selected. Probably you know, but if not, use the toneknob to reach different tele-shades on the bridge.

Thanks for the advice! Think I'm leaning towards a Yardbird/Irish Tour combo, since the Yardbird isn't as bright as the Brown Sugar. Excited to finally try some BK single coils!
