Title: Please help!!!
Post by: AdamB on March 31, 2006, 09:47:30 PM
Right, i'm new here and to BK pickups.

So i thought you guys would be the best people to ask.

So.....i have 2 SG's, one a standard with a Gibson 498 T and one a Gibson SG-X with a single EMG 81. I love the Gibson 498 T. But have just started tuning to D instead of E, and found it to be a bit muddy. And i'm just not a fan of the EMG (i bought the guitar with it in off ebay)

I'm abit overwhelmed by the output of the BK pickups, won't they get abit muddy with an output that high?

So, to the point.........i want a pickup sound like the Gibson but with the D tuning. I like it's clarity and it has a has a massive chunk. I play in a melodic hardcore band, with a simelar guitar sound to Comeback Kid if that means anything to anyone, and through a 5150 II with mesa recto cab

So, which BK pickup is for me?

I'd either go for the riff raff(acdc sg tone) or the crawlers....which have turned my muddy gib sg into a beautiful sounding guitar...even clean

Generally speaking, absolutely not!
BKs are the cleanest, most articulate pups I've ever heard.

Yup.  I can get clarity out of my overwound single coil in drop D.

Mate in General all the PU's from BK will piss on mass manufactured ones for clarity, as they have been scatter wound.  Im sure there are people here who go as low as C or even A#.  I think If I were you, you would want something like a HD or a Crawler.  If you wanted SUPER TIGHT articulate PU that has masses of clarity and power, Id go for the Miracle Man.
