okay, i have an opportunity to buy a v-twin rack pre-amp for a low price, under £300. i've had a pedal one for about 12-13 years and it's a piece of gear i sometimes love, sometimes...don't. it can be a little too smooth and nice, but put it in blues mode and stick a marshall guv'nor in front of it and it's sheer mid eighties metallica! and the clean channel's beautiful!
the thing is, i don't have the opportunity to actually HEAR the rack version. i'm told it's quite different from the pedal, does anyone have any experience of one? i know it's not a common beast, but hopefully someone here has an idea what they sound like? ( i'm thinking Twilight Odyssey is near bound to have heard one?)
hope i didn't ramble too much there, beers have ( are being) been consumed!...

I know a guy who has one, but I've never heard it myself so take this with a grain of salt..... When I was looking into one a few years ago he said it was more Marshally sounding crunch than your typical Mesa chug.

Is that Jesus in your picture?

urggh, my has a sore head, many beers followed those that had preceded, and now my head exists in another dimension...
and i'll leave it up to you if it's jesus, it's a picture of me, but you don't know who i am 8)
more marshally you say? i'd still like to know if anyone's actually heard one.
